Decommissioning of the Glendale Distillery in Glendale Suburb

Illovo Sugar (South Africa) (PTY) Ltd (“Illovo”), proposes to decommission the Glendale Distillery, located in the Glendale suburb approximately 20 km north-west of Stanger (KwaDukuza). Infrastructure on site include the distillation plant, a sewage treatment plant, a dunder pond, holding dams, pump house, artificial drainage channels and administration buildings. Decommissioning requires the mothballing, salvage, demolition and rehabilitation of certain aspects of the distillery. The distillery occupies approximately 6 hectares of land and is located on Portion 3 of the Farm Glendale E No. 17136 in the Ndwedwe Local Municipality of the greater iLembe District Municipality (“IDM”), KwaZulu-Natal Province.
