PROPOSED DEMOLISION OF BUILDING FEATURES ON ERF 398 GOEDEBURG EXTENSION 63 AND RE. PTN. 27 OF THE FARM RIETPAN 66-IR, EKURHULENI MUNICIPALITY, GAUTENG PROVINCE

Urbansmart Planning Studio requested the Heritage Unit of CES for heritage input into a potential Historical Period buildings on RE/PTN27 of the farm Rietpan and Erf 398 Goedeburg Extension 63 in the City of Ekurhuleni Municipality, Gauteng Province (hereafter referred to as the “Rietpan and Goedeburg Demolition Project”). The Chamberlain Group is currently busy with site clearing of Rietpan and Goedeburg in preparation of construction of a new facility and it is proposed to demolish buildings / dwellings on the properties. The City of Ekurhuleni Municipality issued a comment requesting confirmation of the age of the buildings on RE/PTN27 of the farm Rietpan and Erf 398 Goedeburg Extension 63 indicating that they might be protected in terms of heritage legislation. It was further requested that the required heritage approvals be obtained prior to demolition of the features. As such, heritage input is sought by CES and Urbansmart from SAHRA in order to advise the developer on the required heritage measures that will align to objectives of the proposed development with successful and legally compliant heritage management
