Samancor WCM Millsell Section TSF4 expansion project

Prescali Environmental Consultants (Pty) Ltd was appointed by Samancor Chrome Limited to amend the BAR/EMPr compiled by Environmental Assurance (Pty) Ltd (ENVASS) and approved by the Department of Mineral Resources (Pty) Ltd on 19 May 2017 by the issuance of the Waste Management Licence (WML) with reference number NW30/5/1/2/3/2/1/(236, 260 & 479)EM. The 2017 WML licence was for an expansion of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) known as TSF3 and the Waste Rock Dump (WRD) at the Millsell Section located near Rustenburg, in the North West Province. The first expansion is located on Portion 410 of the Farm Waterkloof 305 JQ, and constituted an area of 15,9141 hectares (ha), within the Bojanala District Municipality and Rustenburg Local Municipality in Kroondal approximately 7 km east of the town of Rustenburg. This amendment is for an additional expansion of the TSF (additional 13.5 Ha) and a new Return water dam with silt trap (1,7 Ha) that will be located on portions 112, 285, 371, 408, 409, 410 and 453 of the Farm Waterkloof 305 JQ.
