Gumeni PV 1 Solar Energy Facility in the Nkangala District Municipality, Mpumalanga Province

JUWI intends to develop the Gumeni PV 1 Solar Energy Facility with a maximum total generation capacity of up to 528 Megawatts (1120ha) and its associated infrastructure. The project site has been identified as a technically feasible site which has the potential for the development of a solar PV facility, including a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Within this identified project site, a development area including a footprint area or facility layout will be defined based on the findings of the environmental sensitivities. OHL (Overhead Line) infrastructure connecting to the Gumeni substation is also proposed.
The Facilities will comprise but not limited to the following:
- PV Panels and associated infrastructure
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), solid-state or flow technology, approximately 1000MWh on a 1ha footprint
- Substations (IPP & Eskom)
- Grid network integration infrastructure.
- Site and internal access
- SEF Access roads and internal roads between panel arrays
- Laydown areas, construction camp (temporary building facilities/ containers for construction) and temporary storage areas
- Batching facility
- Water Storage Conservancy Tanks
- Operations and Maintenance buildings
- All activities associated with the development such as roads, telecoms, bulk services.
