Gumeni PV 2 Solar Energy Facility in the Nkangala District Municipality, Mpumalanga Province

JUWI intends to develop the Gumeni PV 2 Solar Energy Facility with a maximum total generation capacity of up to 300 Megawatts (800ha) and its associated infrastructure. The project site has been identified as a technically feasible site which has the potential for the development of a solar PV facility, including a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Within this identified project site, a development area including a footprint area or facility layout will be defined based on the findings of the environmental sensitivities.
The Facilities will comprise but not limited to the following:
- PV Panels and associated infrastructure
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), solid-state or flow technology, approximately 1000MWh on a 1ha footprint
- Substations (IPP & Eskom)
- Grid network integration infrastructure.
- Site and internal access
- SEF Access roads and internal roads between panel arrays
- Laydown areas, construction camp (temporary building facilities/ containers for construction) and temporary storage areas
- Batching facility
- Water Storage Conservancy Tanks
- Operations and Maintenance buildings
- All activities associated with the development such as roads, telecoms, bulk services.
