The Savuka 7a & 7b Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) are approaching their final and approved height, and the current planned Life of Mine (LOM) for the West Wits region exceeds the available deposition capacity. Accordingly, the applicant wishes to increase the height of the Savuka 7a & 7b TSFs. The proposed project is located on: Portion 25 of the Farm Doornfontein 118 IQ and Portion 93 of the Farm Blyvooruitzicht 116 IQ, Merafong City Local Municipality, Gauteng Province. The site is ~5 km south-west of Carletonville. The centre point of the site is -28.785582°S, 24.074790°E.
