Border Cave micromorphology sample preparation 2025

This permit application seeks permission for the temporary export of four micromorphology samples collected from the national heritage site of Border Cave, KwaZulu-Natal to Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, in Tübingen, Germany. The samples would undergo processing into thin sections (which currently cannot be completed in South Africa). This would allow them to be analysed non-destructively using micromorphology at the University of the Witwatersrand following the return of the material to South Africa.
