 REFERRAL LETTER

The permit application in respect of the above, received and reviewed on 14 May 2025 by the KwaZulu-Natal Amafa and Research Institute (The Institute) refers.  

Please be advised as follows:

• The committee noted that the applicant was unable to obtain previous approved plans but the SG diagram was dated 1947. 
• It was noted that the house had retained its intactness of form and most of the original features. 
• The application was for an addition to the front of the building and a carport. 
• It was noted that the carport was shown on the satellite and street views, and it was confirmed that this was unauthorized work. 
• It was noted that the house was situated in a street of similar buildings and that it contributed to the streetscape. 

 The application was therefore referred.

FURTHER REQUIREMENTS 

• A Form I application, applicable fee, and separate drawings for the carport were required.   
• Revised drawings showing the carport omitted must be submitted to align with the Form A application.  

Written responses/requests for reconsideration of the application or consideration of new information must be loaded to the case on SAHRIS (email [email protected]) within 30 days of the date of this letter or any requirements/decisions contained herein will be considered final.  Extensions of this time frame can be requested upon receipt of motivation.

Required additional information or revised drawings must be submitted within six months from the date of this letter or the application will lapse and a new application will be required.

THIS LETTER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE FORMAL APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO THE INSTITUTE.  UNAUTHORISED WORK CARRIED OUT ON THE ABOVE SITE WILL BE IN CONTRAVENTION OF THE KWAZULU-NATAL AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE ACT (5 of 2018).
