1673 Section 24G application for the Rustenburg Chrome Mine Rietfontein Plant

The applicant wishes to submit a rectification application for their Rietfontein Processing Plant which was constructed and commenced operation without prior Environmental Authorisation (EA). The applicant also intends to construct various new stormwater management infrastructure at the site. Furthermore, it is the applicants intention that the proposed slurry and return water pipelines which will span between the plant and the main RCM mine to the north of the plant will also be included in the application.
The proposed project is located on Portion 23 and Portion 24 of the farm Rietfontein 338JQ, Rustenburg Local Municipality, Bojanala District Municipality, North West Province. The site is located approximately 12km southeast of
Rustenburg and approximately 6km southeast of Kroondal. The approximate centre point of the site is 25°44'51.91"S, 27°21'55.56"E.
