Proposal Description
The proposed development entails the construction and subsequent operation of 12 chicken houses, with each housing approximately 42 000 – 50 000 chickens. A phase development approach is proposed:
• Phase 1: 6 Houses; and
• Phase 2: 6 Houses.
The total development footprint, including access roads is estimated to be 1,9ha.
The associated infrastructure would include:
• Effluent / Waste Lagoons;
• Office Block;
• Solar Panels;
• Borehole establishment; and
• Water storage and reticulation.
Fairacre Poultry does not include abattoir facilities and will be supplying live chickens directly to external poultry and animal feed producers
Umlando requests that this be given an exemption from further HIA studie4s.
