Temporary export permit for 3 artworks to travel to Art Institute of Chicago, United States of America for The Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture exhibition

As outlined in the issued permit conditions, the temporary loan of objects from the Johannesburg Art Gallery was granted with the understanding that an extension for a request must be made at least 30 days prior to any move to the proposed next location. All required documentation must be prepared and submitted as part of the extension request. The South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) has been made aware that the necessary documentation and submission for extension have not been prepared in time.

With the original deadline for return set for 31 May 2025 now imminent, SAHRA is granting a grace period solely for the return of the objects. These objects must be returned by no later than 30 June 2025. If the artworks are not returned by the stipulated date, further action will be taken.
