NOT CONSERVATION WORTHY LETTER
The permit application in respect of the above, received on the 21/5/2025, reviewed by Amafa’s Plans Committee on the date, refers. Please be advised as follows:
The structures on this site were generally protected under Section 37(1) of the KZN Amafa and Research Institute Act, Act 5 of 2018 and 34(1) of the National Heritage Resources Act (25/1999) in order to allow the building/s on the site to be assessed for conservation worthiness when application was made to alter, add to or demolish the structures on the site.
It was clear from the application submitted that this building and the other structures on the site have no conservation worthiness or significance as envisaged in the heritage legislation. The committee, therefore, resolved to grade the site Not Conservation Worthy (NCW).
NO FURTHER PERMIT APPLICATIONS IN RESPECT TO ANY WORK ON THIS PROPERTY WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE MADE TO THE KZN AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE.
