Proposal Description
The Roam WEF project site is proposed to accommodate the following infrastructure, which will enable the WEF to supply a contracted capacity of up to 400 MW.
• Up to 40 turbines with a maximum hub height of up 130 m and a rotor diameter of up to 190 m;
• A transformer at the base of each turbine;
• Concrete turbine foundations;
• Turbine, crane, and blade hardstands;
• Temporary laydown areas which will accommodate storage and assembly areas;
• Cabling (33 kV collector lines) between turbines, to be laid underground where practical;
• On-site substation with a combined footprint of up to 5 ha in extent to facilitate the connection between the WEF and the electricity grid;
• Access roads to the site inclusive of stormwater infrastructure, aligned along existing provincial roads;
• Internal roads between project components inclusive of stormwater infrastructure. A 20 m road corridor may be temporarily impacted upon during construction and rehabilitated to 8 m wide after construction;
• A temporary construction camp;
• Operation and Maintenance building including a gate house, security building, control centre, offices, warehouses, workshop, and visitor’s centre; and
• Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
