Proposal Description
The aim of this project is to identify and comprehensively characterise the mineralogy of the Nqweba meteorite using hyperspectral imaging, with minimal loss of sample material. Traditional mineralogical techniques often require destructive preparation such as thin sectioning or resin mounting, which compromises the integrity of rare and scientifically valuable specimens. Hyperspectral imaging offers a non-destructive alternative that enables accurate mineralogical over larger areas of the sample at high spatial resolution. The project aims to preserve the sample mass and the structure of the meteorite while providing a comprehensive mineralogical. This approach not only supports responsible curation of meteoritic material but also contributes to advancing analytical protocols for planetary materials.
