Proposed Rastaban Solar Park and Connection Infrastructure on Remainder of Portion 1 of Farm Nooitgedacht 300 JS within the Emalahleni Local Munipality, Nkangalanga District Municipality, Mpumalanga Province

Rastaban Energy (Pty) Ltd (Reg No. 2024/019029/07) is proposing the development, construction and operation of a renewable energy generation facility (Photovoltaic Power Plant) and associated infrastructure, and structures on the Remainder of Portion 1 of Farm Nooitgedacht 300 JS (300.4 ha), within the Emalahleni Local Municipality, Nkangala District Municipality, Mpumalanga province.

The Maximum Export Capacity at the delivery point for the Solar Plant & BESS will be 120 MW. The Rastaban Solar Park will entail the construction and operation of an on-site 33kV/132kV Step-up substation, equipped with high-voltage power transformers, stepping up the voltage from 33kV to 132kV, and one 132kV busbar with metering and protection devices (switching station). The on-site substation will be connected to the Eskom “Komdraai” Distribution Substation, through a new 132 kV powerline (double circuit) from 1.7 to 2.1 long, depending on the selected alignment. The PV plant, the on-site substation and the 132kV powerline are located outside urban areas or industrial complexes.
