Thank you for your permit application to conduct archaeogical excavations on Late Iron Age stone walled settlements at Shylock 256JQ, Avondstond 295JQ and Zephanjeskraal 251JQ in Rustenburg District, North West Province.

SAHRA has reviewed your application and decided to approve it. Please note that the permit is valid for one year until June 2026. This is to account for the current uncertainty around the exact locations for the proposed excavations. It is standard for excavation permit applications to specify the location in which the excavations will be conducted, however it is understood that part of your application is to undertake survey work to establish the preferred targets. SAHRA requests that the excavation areas be established before any applications for renewal of the permit.
