Retrospective application for graves at Rietvallei

In 2021, PVB Rietvallei Pty Ltd appointed Tlholoe’s Funeral Parlour CC to assist with the exhumation of 27 graves located on Portion 32 of Portion 28 of the farm Rietvallei 180 I.Q. Permission for the exhumation was obtained from the families of the deceased, Mogale City Environmental Department, Gauteng Health Forensic, and COGTA. Although all the graves were opened, only eight human remains were discovered. These remains were placed into new coffins and reburied at Kagiso Cemetery on April 16, 2021, with the presence of the families.
This was done without a permit from SAHRA (It is presumed by Archaetnos that the client was unaware that graves with no date of death are considered to be heritage graves).
The site is in Mogale City, 62 Andries street, Gauteng Province.
