SECTION 24G RETROSPECTIVE ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION APPLICATION FOR THE UNLAWFUL COMMENCEMENT OF THE PROPOSED SETTLEMENT RE-ZONING AND SERVICE INFRASTRUCTURE INSTALLATION ON REMAINDER ERF 361, ERF 362 & REMAINDER ERF 3415, PORT ALFRED WITHIN THE NDLAMBE

The Applicant, Ndlambe local municipality, appointed Dline8, as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP), to undertake the relevant environmental studies to identify and assess the potential environmental impacts associated with the proposed project; and prepare the necessary Environmental Application for submission to the Eastern Cape Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT). The proposed activity on the Remainder Erf 361, Erf 362 & Remainder Erf 3415. New Rest, relates to the re-zoning of the informal residential settlements from agriculture and business zone 3 to residential. The re-zoning of this area to residential aims to provide low-cost formal housing. The development will provide the local community with necessary bulk basic services such as water, sanitation and electricity. The roads in the community will also be formalized to increase access. The activity will further adhere to all National Building Regulations and Local planning By-Laws
