THE PROPOSED INSTALLATION OF STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE IN MEREDALE EXTENSION 28

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) proposes to install new stormwater infrastructure and undertake rehabilitation works on existing stormwater infrastructure located within Meredale Extension 28, Johannesburg. Spatial Consulting Group (Pty) Ltd was appointed by Metsweding on behalf of the Johannesburg Roads Agency to undertake a Basic Assessment and Water Use Authorisation Process for the proposed development. The proposed activities include the realignment and upgrading of existing stormwater channels upgrading or replacing culverts at key locations.
Three critical culverts have been identified for intervention:
Culvert 1 (adjacent to Stand 5, Antrim Road): To be resized and upgraded to prevent overtopping and soil erosion.
Culvert 2 (adjacent to Erf 901): To be realigned or replaced to improve flow conveyance and reduce property flood risk, with options for structural retaining walls if realignment is not feasible.
Culvert 3 (Main Road crossing): To be upgraded to address insufficient capacity and structural deterioration.
