Proposal Description
The proposed development involves the installation of a 60 m high lattice type cellular tower, with a base station of approximately 12 x 12 m. The tower will be fitted with a lightning spike and night time navigation lights. A high security equipment cabinet will also be included in the development. The installation is enclosed with a 2.4m high palisade fence topped with flat wrap razor wire, and double security gates for entrance.
The proposed location is on a property outside the urban/ built up area on Portion 2 of the Farm Tandjiesberg No.514, in the Graaf Reinett area, in the Blue Crane Route Local Municipality. The chosen site allows for a central position in an area of poor signal. The proposed location is at an elevation of 690 m above MSL. A tower at this location will increase the coverage for local residents and businesses in the area as well as passing motorists.
The proposed site is located near the junction of the R75 and R63 roads. These roads are tarred and well-maintained which will allow for easy access to the specific location of the tower. No additional access roads will be needed to be constructed.
Power to the site will be provided from an existing Eskom powerline. This line will be in the form of an overhead cable from the nearest metered AC point.
This proposed development DOES NOT TRIGGER section 38(1) of the NHRA.
