REFERRAL LETTER 

UNAUTHORISED ADDITIONS AND ALTERATIONS: ERF 552 being at 157 Trematon Drive,Durban 

Please be advised as follows: 

  • After consideration of your application for condonation, the committee resolved to impose a fine of R10 000 for the illegal work undertaken, for the following reasons: 
  • When the applicant first submitted the application, he did not provide the evidence needed e.g photo, affidavit etc
  • The committee had noted on the day of the meeting on the above-mentioned information was provided however members of the heritage officer committee undertook a site inspection which they discovered the mentioned proposed work had already been constructed on site with all the storeys illustrated on the drawing.
  • Thus, the findings on the applicant side had raised a concern to the committee since as mentioned above why would he submit an incomplete application which as the guidelines provided on the Amafa form requires so.
  • Form I is required for illegal works, and a fine of R10 000,00

Written responses/requests for reconsideration of the application or consideration of new information must be loaded to the case on SAHRIS (email [email protected] ) within 30 days of the date of this letter or any requirements/decisions contained herein will be considered final. Extensions of this time frame can be requested upon receipt of motivation. Required additional information or revised drawings must be submitted within six months from the date of this letter or the application will lapse, and a new application will be required.

THIS LETTER DOES NOT CONSTITUTE FORMAL APPROVAL OF THE PROPOSAL SUBMITTED TO THE INSTITUTE.  UNAUTHORISED WORK CARRIED OUT ON THE ABOVE SITE WILL BE IN CONTRAVENTION OF THE KWAZULU-NATAL AMAFA AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE ACT (5 of 2018).
