Tugela Solar Power Plant

The facility aims to generate renewable energy using solar PV technology and includes a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to enhance energy reliability. The EIA Footprint (area assessed for the placement of the development footprint) is approximately 966 hectares in extent. It is expected to have a generation capacity of up to 100MW and will connect to the Eskom grid via a 132kV powerline. The site has been identified due to its favorable solar radiation, proximity to existing grid infrastructure, relatively flat terrain, and limited environmental sensitivities. The project aligns with national and international objectives to promote clean, renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
