Interim Comment

The SAHRA Development Applications Unit (DAU) is making the following comments in terms of section 38(8) of the National Heritage Resources Act as contemplated by the EIA process in terms of section 24(4)b(iii) of NEMA:

• Some portion of the area proposed for development are of high palaeontological sensitivity as well as some portions shows only minor disturbance, therefore the likelihood of uncovering in-situ heritage resources needs to be assessed. 
• The SAHRA 2012 Minimum Standards: Palaeontological Component of Heritage Impact Assessments makes reference to a Letter of Recommendation for Exemption that is to be submitted if there is no likelihood that heritage sites will be impacted.
• The .kml files must be revised to include Dam 1 and Dam 2.
• A DEIA is required for further consideration of the proposed development.
• Further comments will be issued upon submission of these further requirements.
