The remains of the small quarry and loose granite blocks are now present in the grounds of St Johns Estate at top of Upper Kloof Street (John Rennie, pers. comm., 2012; Doug Cole, field observations, 26/08/2013). On website www.cliftgranite.co.za, it is stated that Bellvue Quarry was opened for the supply of granite for Rhodes Memorial. The contract signed on 13/03/1906 for 26 000 cubic feet of granite at 2000 cubic feet per month. The granite is coarse-grained porphyritic and is from the Early Cambrian Cape Granite Suite.
