Statement of Significance
Kloof Quarry is a large abandoned quarry that was rehabilitated for use as a playing field for Jan Van Riebeeck High School. It exploited hornfels of the Late Precambrian Malmesbury Group and granite of the Early Cambrian Cape Granite Suite for building stone, aggregate and road material with St Barnabas Church in Kloof Nek Road being one example.
