The Chief Maqoma Monument was built in commemoration of the great Chief Maqoma. It's existence , the Monument, cloaks the graves of long dead warriors buried on the mountain as well. A stone was erected in memory of those members of armed forces who died in the active service of the country. Both the stone and the Monument sits on the mountain, Ntaba Ka Ndoda, as well as Chief Maqom's Statue and Gravesite.Purpose:

In remembrance of Chief Maqoma, a reluctant warrior, who was also tactically astute and strategically brilliant. He conducted several hugely successful guerrilla campaigns against British forces and colonialists in the Amathole Mountains region during the Frontier Wars, also known as the Xhosa Wars of Dispossession.
