Description
It was established due to a need to gun powder between the 1800 and 1830 to defend the town against the frequent raids by hostile tribes. Gunpowder was also needed for blasting in the construction of Ouberg Pass by Andrew Geddes Bain. It was a safe distance in the case of an explosion, yet still convenient for quick, easy access.
