Buffelsfontein East forms part of the existing mining right area and is operated by Samancor Chrome Ltd. Opencast and underground mining was undertaken through existing EMPs and WUL at Pits A, B & C. An application is made in terms of NEMA, Section 102 of the MPRDA and NWA to allow Samancor Chrome Ltd to mine seams that were not previously authorised and develop associated infrastructure. The project is located on Portions: 28, 35, 104, 118, 119, 120, 128 and 139 of the Farm Buffelsfontein 465 JQ in the North West Province, Madibeng Local Municipality. The SAHRA Development Application Unit (DAU) notes the heritage studies submitted for comments for the proposed development, however, we cannot provide comments on the heritage reports before the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) document and its appendices, have been attached to the development application case on SAHRIS.
