      Statement of Significance

The natural vegetation of the slopes of Table Mountain has been preserved here; it forms a link between the proclaimed area of Table Mountain on the slope of Lion’s Head and the Clifton Nature Reserve as a result of which a strip of land, still in its natural state, now extends from Lion’s Head down to the sea; from the roads in the vicinity it gives the visitor an untrammelled view of one of the most beautiful spots in the whole of the Cape Peninsula; finally, it ensures that in an area which is getting more built-up every day, this strip of veld will remain preserved.
