Statement of Significance

These buildings, with their Georgian Karoo style and Victorian features, which date mainly from the nineteenth century, form an integral part of the historical and architectural core of Graaff-Reinet, which was founded in 1785.

Declaration Description

The facade of the Victorian dwelling-house situated on the following erven:
Erf 1187, Graaff-Reinet, situate in the Municipality and Division of Graaff-Reinet, in extent 118 (one hundred and eighteen) square metres;
Erf 1198, Graaff-Reinet, situate as above, in extent 276 (two hundred and seventy-six) square metres; and
one-third portion of Erf 1196, Graaff-Reinet, situate as above, in extent 151 (one hundred and fifty-one) square metres.
Deed of Transfer T34584/1985, dated 20 September 1985.
