      Statement of Significance

These seven properties, together with the historic buildings thereon, are not only closely associated with the founding and growth of De Beers, the largest diamond mining company in South Africa, but also form the nucleus of the De Beers' conservation area. The buildings are characteristic of the late Victorian era.
