Both the historic houses on this site are typical pioneer houses of the German Settlers who settled in the Eastern Province in the fifties of the 19th century.

The historic property with the two German Settler houses thereon, known as the Von Ronnow House and the Moser Cottage, at Berlin, near East London, which may be described as follows:
(a) Certain piece of freehold land being Erf 522, Berlin (formerly known as Lot 15, situate in the Village of Charlottenburg), situate in the Municipality of the City of East London, in the Division of King William's Town, and measuring 613 square metres;
(b) certain piece of freehold land, being Erf 523, Berlin (formerly known as Lot 14, situate in the Village of Charlottenberg), situate in the Municipality of the City of East London, in the Division of King William's Town, and measuring 613 square metres;
(c) certain piece of freehold land, being Erf 647, Berlin (formerly known as Lot X, situate in the Village of Charlottenburg), situate in the Municipality of the City of East London, in the Division of King William's Town, and measuring 4,8562 hectares; and
(d) certain piece of land, being Erf 519, Berlin (formerly known as Lot 1, sitaute in the Village of Charlottenburg), situate in the Municipality of the City of East London, in the Division of King William's Town, and meausring 613 square metres.
