Statement of Significance

This library building with its neo-Gothic features is one of the olest buildings in the town and was erected in 1892 to meet the needs of the inhabitants of the village that grew around the military base, which was established here in 1877.

The property, including the old Public Library Building thereon, situated on certain piece of perpetual quitrent land, being Building Lot 2, Block K (now known as Erf 94), situate in the Village and Municipality of Komga, Division of Komga, in extent one hundred and forty-one (141) square roods and one hundred and seven (107) square feet.
Deed of Transfer 180/1932, dated 13 April 1932.
