Statement of Significance
This unique complex, consisting of a rural Cape Dutch house and semi-detached wine cellar, was erected in 1871 by Francois du Toit. He was married to the daughter of Gideon Johannes Retief, youngest brother of the Voortrekker leader Net Retief.
