Statement of Significance

This powder magazine was erected in 1878 on land which was granted to the Municipality by the local church council in 1859. The powder magazine is a simple, rectangular structure with two gables on both sides and a solid copper door in front.

Declaration Description

The historic powder magazine, situate on certain piece of redeemed quitrent land in the Municipality and Division of Murraysburg, being the Remainder of a portion of Eensaamheid (now the Remainder of Erf 249, Murraysburg) and measuring six thousand eight hundred and eleven decimal two nine eight one (6 811,289 1) morgen, which includes the streets according to plans M32, M32A and M32X.
