Statement of Significance

This is the only surviving thatched pioneer-type house in central Piketberg. It retaines its original appearance to a great extent and is associated with the early history of the town as it once belonged to the first Magistrate of Piketberg.

The property with the historical house known as Woburn Lodge and the barn thereon, described as follows:
1. Erf 84, Piketberg, situated in the Municipality and Division of Piketberg, in extent 171 (one hundred and seventy-one) square metres; and
2. Erf 85, Piketberg, situated in the Municipality and Division of Piketberg, in extent 2 675 (two thousand six hundred and seventy-five) square metres.
