"De Goede Hoop" is an unique example of the influence of Herbert Baker and his associates on South African architecture. Its association with the Chaplins and historical events during the early 20th century in Southern Africa has resulted in a blend of influences that was manifested in the detail features of the manor house. It is an important example of 20th century architecture and the house and surrounding land is a landmark in the Noordhoek Valley.
