Statement of Significance

This cemetery is a typical example of vernacular Strandfontein construction, having been built of slate stone by the local inhabitants. The Fryers of Clanwilliams, came to settle and farm in this area and were very involved in establishing a school and a growing, close-knit community in Strandfontein.
