      Statement of Significance

      This rectangular stone church building, with its elegant stone tower of 154 feet, is one of the best examples of the Gothic renewal building style. The cornerstone was laid on 20 May 1882 and the building was officially inaugurated on 18 August 1883. The stone wall with iron trellice work was added in 1929.

      (a) Certain piece of land, being Lot 231, situate in the Village of Dordrecht, in the Field Cornetcy of Waschbank, Division of Wodehouse, being a portion of the place Boschrand (now known as Erf 501, Dordrecht), and measuring thirty-seven (37) square roods and seventy-two (72) square feet.
      (b) Certain two erven or lots of land, situate in the town of Dordrecht, Division of Wodehouse, marked 232 and 233 (now known as Erven 502 and 504, Dordrecht), and each measuring thirty-seven (37) square roods and seventy-two (72) square feet.
      (c) Certain piece of land, being Lot 230, situate in the Village of Dordrecht, Field Cornetcy of Waschbank, Division of Wodehouse, being a portion of the place Boschrand (now known as Erf 503, Dordrecht), and measuring thirty-seven (37) square roods and seventy-two (72) square feet.
      (d) Certain erf or lot of land, marked 234, situate in the Town of Dordrecht, Division of Wodehouse (now known as Erf 505, Dordrecht), and measuring thirty-seven (37) square roods and seventy-two (72) square feet.
      (e) Certain piece of quitrent land, situate in the Municipality of Dordrecht, Division of Wodehouse, being Erven 227, 228, 229, 235 and 236, known as De N.G. Kerk, a portion of the farm Boschrand (now known as Erf 506, Dordrecht), and measuring one hundred and eighty-seven (187) square roods seventy two (72) square feet.
