The building was designed in 1902 by Aburrow and Treeby and erected during 1902/03 for Mr H.F. Watson. Mr Watson remained there until 1919. It was later bought by Sister Rhodes Samuels, who made a number of extensions and converted it into the Gracedale Nursing Home. After World War Two it was acquired by L. Schneider, who presented it to the S.A. Woment's Auxiliary Services. It later became the premises for the Cadet Nursing Course, and later a centre for district mid-wives. The house is late-Victorian in style with certain colonial features such as the high triangular gables and a wooden verandah with french doors leading onto it. Although considerably altered through various additions, it is worth preserving.
