This water-wheel and mill of cast iron is one of only a few water-mills in the Transvaal which have been preserved in situ. It was probably erected sometime between 1900 and 1910 and is representative of the last type of mills in South Africa that operated with millstones.

The property with the mill-house and water-mill theron is described as follows: The figure PQRSTP represents 5 963 square metres of land, being a national monument site situated on Portion 3 of the farm Naauwpoort 328 JP, Province of the Transvaal, as shown on Surveyor's Diagram SG A6701/82, dated 14 October 1982, and filed in the Office of the Surveyor General in Pretoria.
