      Statement of Significance

In 1905 the Theological School of the Gereformeerde Church was transferred from Burgersdorp to Potchefstroom where from 1905 to 1907 this complex of four buildings was erected to accommodate the Theological School and its subsections, the professor and the students. Dr J. D. du Toit (Totius) occupied the professo⁲_x0019_s residence for 13 years and several of his volumes of verse originated here. Here he also worked on the Bible translation and the rhymed version of the Psalms. Furthermore, the University of Potchefstroom and the Hoërskool Gimnasium developed from the Theological School and its Preparatory School,_x000D_
