      Statement of Significance

      This impressive building with its 44 metre high clock- tower was designed by the architect F. Heesse and erected with the assistance of members of the congregation. The corner-stone of the building was laid on 7 February 1920 and the church was officially consecrated on 14 April 1924. This church is reputed to be the largest sandstone church in South Africa.
