Statement of Significance
This imposing building, with its predominantly Victorian features, dates from 1905/6. Moritz Jacobson, bought the property in 1921 and lived there until 1977, when he donated it to the Municipality of Philippolis to be used as a library. In 1978 it was taken over by the Provincial Administration of the Orange Free State and restored.
