    This memorial is to commemorate Gen Louis Botha who was a Boer war hero during the Anglo-Boer War and who later on became the first Prime Minister of the Union of South Africa.

    General Louis Botha was born on 27 September 1862 on the farm Hartebeest Vlakte, which was the property of CH Heine at the time. The house in which Louis Botha was born does not exist any more.
