      Declaration Description

      The Green Point Lighthouse, situated on Subdivision 7 of the farm Clansthal 1202, in the District ofUmzinto. Similiar to Port Shepstone lighthouse except lantern is fully open and windows appear to be smaller: an open newel winding stair leads up to the lantern where a small door gives access to the balcony: cast iron construction, painted with red and white bands:
      SiteFeat: original keeper's house further to left, now separated and sold.
      Alterations: various.
      History: One of two oldest lighthouses on the coast of KwaZulu-Natal: second last lighthouse to use petroleum vapour burners, first to be fully automated on 18November 1961.( The two small lighthouses which formerly indicated the Aliwal Shoal were relocated to Port Shepstone and Cape St Lucia respectively)
